About The Role
ARAG UK, a market-leading insurance and legal services provider, has an exciting new opportunity for a Reporting and Analytics Engineer to join us in our Information Management Team, based in our spacious, modern Bristol offices.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for data, visualisations, and story-telling through data; ideally coming from a relevant professional background to support this passion.
Working as part of the Reporting & Analytics team, you will work in close collaboration with the Data Engineering team and business areas taking responsibility and accountability for collaborative design and build of end-user visualisations, reports, and ad-hoc analysis. It is key that you will promote transparent communication by sharing updates, insights, and hurdles, as well as working collaboratively to tap into shared expertise. You'll also ensure all required documentation is complete prior to release and all standards and best practices are adhered to.
It is essential that you have strong SQL, SSRS, and Power BI skills for creating and managing paginated reports, visualizations and dashboards. Experience with TSQL, using data warehouses, and tabular data sets is also important. Familiarity with development lifecycle processes using source control, ideally within Azure DevOps, is highly valued.
Key responsibilities include:
1. In collaboration with stakeholders across the business, design and build a variety of content including paginated reports and dashboards using SSRS and Power BI.
2. Building and enhancing datasets for report consumption using TSQL.
3. Work with the data warehouse team to improve warehouse coverage and create key performance indicators (KPIs). Gather detailed requirements and foster collaborative idea generation. Ensure BI solutions follow the principles of increase efficiency, enhance decision-making, and optimize operations.
4. Resolve queries and issues related to BI tools, services and data.
5. An active stakeholder ensuring all BI processes including data refreshes and report generation run smoothly.
6. Resolving failures or errors in scheduled jobs, investigating data discrepancies. Escalate, document and undergo deeper investigation required for the development of fixes.

About You
We are keen to hear from candidates with previous experience in a similar role. You will have a "can do" attitude, to help thrive in this rapidly evolving area, an enthusiasm to learn and a true passion for data and information. In addition, we'd like to hear from candidates who are:
1. Experienced across the Microsoft technology stack, ideally leveraging capabilities in Azure.
2. Adept at visualising information through good use of chart types best suited to the situation.
3. Have experience developing reports using a Data Warehouse and a solid understanding of Kimball methodologies and principles.
4. Experience of using DAX at an advanced level preferable.
5. Can build and enhance datasets for report consumption using TSQL.
6. Good problem solving and planning skills with a "can do" attitude.
7. Able to work well as a team with good collaboration skills.
8. A creative and lateral thinker.
9. Able to demonstrate good communication and relationship building skills.
