Our Health in Justice service line is now expanding into non-Custodial healthcare, a person-centred approach delivered via a solid and consolidated infrastructure aimed to assess individuals’ mental health and neurodiversity requirements, to redirect them to the most appropriate channel. We have an exciting opportunity for a Liaison and Diversion Practitioner to join our team in North Yorkshire.
As a Liaison & Diversion Practitioner you will work autonomously in police detention cells, in order to identify and respond to requests of screening and assessment of people with identified health needs in contact with the criminal justice system.
Location
This role is based at Harrogate Police Station.
Hours
This is a bank role. The hours available will be 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Salary
This position is bank paying an hourly rate of £23.
Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK due to the nature of the role; offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
As a Liaison and Diversion Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* be part of an extended team working across the Liaison & Diversion service
* work autonomously in court and police detention cells in order to identify and respond to requests of screening and assessment of people with identified health needs in contact with the criminal justice system
* use validated tools to assess for a number of identified health needs and utilise information accordingly to inform decision-making and facilitate diversion within and out of the criminal justice pathway, creating a clear individualised care plan

Qualifications, skills and experience required:
* Qualified Registered Mental Nurse, Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with current registration with the relevant professional body
* Substantial evidence of continuing professional development and post-registration training.
* Experience of psychosocial interventions and awareness of substance misuse
* Excellent communication skills and ability to gain appropriate level of consent
* Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
* Knowledge of evidence-based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines and pharmacology
* Knowledge of current legislation relating to community mental health provision and forensic psychiatry
