The Job
1. To ensure the daily supervision of all allocated LGV Drivers and the distribution of all planned deliveries in accordance with the transport plan in order to meet the needs of customer orders and production.
2. Ensure all Fleet vehicles are safe and serviced as required and that we operate within all appropriate legislative requirements, Codes of Practise and Company Procedures.
3. Lead the driver team with effective leadership, motivation and team building to empower the individuals to take responsibility and ownership.
4. Support the safety of the team through engaging in the DRF, and Farm review process and ensure suitable actions are taken to maintain Driver safety.
5. Build effective relationships with other functions and suppliers to understand and ensure customer expectations are met (E.g CSU, Sales, Production, Raw Materials & Hauliers).
6. Maintain hygiene standards on site for a safe working environment and meet the requirements of the relevant assurance schemes.
7. Manage and monitor the hours of drivers to ensure both legal compliance and efficient use of drivers and ensure tachograph downloads are completed by Drivers within required timeframes.
8. Work within the company policies and procedures to ensure that all drivers are treated equally and fairly, including but not limited to absence, holidays, training and performance.
9. Ensure the achievement of feed safety is always a priority.
10. Ensure that there is an effective fleet maintenance program in place that sustains vehicles in a safe and roadworthy condition, and that the plan is followed to remain compliant with the relevant legislation.
11. Supply the availability of resource, fleet and Drivers, to the Transport Planners on a weekly basis for the following week.
12. Support the Distribution Manager to ensure that all Drivers adhere to the Company's Driver manual, and the AIC Code of Practise for Road Haulage; and Road Traffic policies and procedures and report any non-compliance immediately.
13. Adhere to Department, Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental.
14. To ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, ADR & NOPS assurance schemes, and support any relevant audits.
15. Operate Paragon to ensure efficient and effective load planning that meets customer and site requirements.
16. Proactively manage Drivers training requirements and ensure training needs are actioned in a timely manner.
17. Other tasks associated with the efficient technical support of a Workshop.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED
1. Experience in a Transport Operation or planning environment.
2. Familiar with HSE legislation and its practical application.
3. Experience with Drivers hours control and management.
4. People Management and Development.
5. Respond positively to change - Change Champion.
6. Strong Influencer - able to overcome employee objections.
7. Flexibility to vary location and work patterns according to business priorities.
8. Organisation and Prioritisation Skills.
9. Applies Discretion; communicates to the right people about the right things.
10. Experience in Food/Agricultural Industry.
11. Hold a Transport Manager CPC Qualification/willing to obtain one.
