Overview
Under the general supervision of the Network Infrastructure Lead, provide infrastructure and telecommunication support services to all departments and hospital owned Physician Practices. Duties to include design, implementation and support of network and telecommunications infrastructure equipment including but not limited to active directory, exchange, virtualization and other enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
1. Assess network infrastructure needs and make recommendations to Network Infrastructure Lead on recommended hardware platforms and software applications to meet required needs.
2. Perform setup and installation of network equipment to include proper testing and burn-in of system components.
3. Support users by maintaining a working knowledge of various Medical Center networks.
4. Maintain knowledge of computer technology and network technology.
5. Review new computer enhancements and recommend/install upgrades as approved by the Network Infrastructure Lead.
6. Plan and implement new network systems, while maintaining proper controls and ensuring maximum user uptime.
7. Add, delete, or change user accounts on hospital systems, maintaining proper documentation and controls.
8. Monitor and control tape backup systems, ensuring error free backups of user data, system data, and patient data.
9. Act as an inter-departmental liaison to solve all interface and integration related issues.
10. Provide On-Call and Hands-On support of all users of network computer equipment and telecommunication equipment.
11. Ensure resolution of Helpdesk issues generated while on-call.
12. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
13. Work with other team members to effectively implement and maintain computer environments and interfaces.
14. Install and direct vendors or personnel to install various network topology cabling throughout the medical Center and BMC owned Physician Practices for telephone and/or data transport.
15. Assist network infrastructure lead in the assessment of systems to ensure scalability and reliability are taken into account to accommodate for growth.
16. Install and bring on line all communication hardware/software equipment at satellites.
17. Configure the network to interface with the other networks.
18. Monitor internet activity and take necessary steps to protect and secure data.
19. Responsible for disciplines including Unix, Windows storage, enterprise backups, active directory, exchange, enterprise anti-virus protection and any other software in support of the infrastructure.
20. Provide appropriate documentation of the firewall.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Three or more years of experience. Can be substituted for a degree in computer science.
Minimum of two years of experience providing network infrastructure support. Virtualization of servers and the desktop and Storage Area Networks.
Associates degree in Computer Science preferred.
