Job Overview: We are seeking compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants (SEN TA) to support students with special educational needs in primary schools across Lambeth. This role involves working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to provide tailored support to young students, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEN, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties. Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons and adapting learning materials to meet individual needs. Support students with emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties to foster their confidence and independence. Implement EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) strategies and contribute to progress monitoring. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure effective support and communication. Supervise students during break times, assisting with social interaction and engagement. Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment for all students. Provide personal care and mobility assistance when required. Person Specification: Essential: Experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or similar setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Desirable: Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting. Understanding of different SEN needs and interventions. Qualifications in SEN, child development, or related fields. Experience using Makaton, PECS, or other communication tools. Why Join Us?
