Our hospitality volunteers work alongside the clinical and catering teams, supporting patients and their families. We provide 24/7 food service in addition to set mealtimes. What you’ll be doing: Assist the chef by taking meal orders, communicating these to the chef, serving meals to patients, and assisting with any clearing away. Help with keeping the kitchen tidy. This may include disposing of uneaten food, stacking and emptying the dishwasher, and wiping down surfaces. Replenish patient water jugs throughout the day, providing them on a tray. Wipe down bedside tables. Provide tea and coffee to those who have requested it. Ensure visitors have food and drink if required. Take payments for visitor meals. Keep the lounge and cosy kitchen areas clean and tidy. Your Skills and Abilities: Warm and caring nature with a desire to help others manage day to day living. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a diverse group of patients and colleagues. Understand the need to take particular precautions in working alongside patients with palliative care needs and at the end of life. Maturity and self-awareness regarding the emotional impact of working with death and dying. Well-organised. Able to work independently and as part of a team. What’s in it for you?
