Looking for an experienced and highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team for a critical infrastructure project in the Warwickshire area. This role involves managing all cost-related aspects of the project, including a significant junction that connects the main railway line with spurs running into and out of Birmingham City Centre towards Curzon Street Station. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the project remains within budget while meeting all contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans, and manage the procurement process, including the preparation and evaluation of tender documents.
2. Monitor project expenditure, identify potential cost overruns, and provide solutions to mitigate financial risks.
3. Provide expert advice on cost management and commercial strategy, ensuring the financial success of the project.
4. Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to negotiate contracts, resolve commercial issues, and ensure alignment of financial aspects with overall project objectives.
5. Regularly report on financial performance, cost forecasting, and variance analysis, while maintaining detailed records to support project audits and compliance checks.
6. Effectively manage and communicate complex budgetary information crucial to the successful delivery of the project.
Competencies:
1. Strong analytical skills and a proven track record in cost management and quantity surveying within large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the railway sector.
2. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies.
3. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in cost reporting, managing complex budgets, and ensuring reliable financial data.
4. Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and adaptable to the dynamic environment of a major infrastructure project.
5. A proactive problem-solver, expected to identify and address financial risks early, providing solutions that support the project’s success.
6. Deep understanding of NEC contracts and comfort navigating the legal and regulatory frameworks governing large-scale projects.
Qualification Requirements:
1. Hold a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or a related field.
2. Minimum of 4 years of experience in quantity surveying, focusing on large-scale infrastructure or railway projects.
3. Experience with NEC contracts and strong understanding of cost management software and financial reporting tools are essential.
4. Track record of successfully managing budgets, delivering cost savings, and supporting the financial aspects of complex construction projects.
