Job Title: Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer
Salary: Circa £43,000 depending on experience
Location: Bolton (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4 / 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

The opportunity:
An opportunity is now available in the MBDA Continuous Improvement (CI) team. You will support and lead waste / defect reduction activities that will increase productivity as we drive towards trebling our production rates while reducing our costs.
This role offers the opportunity to liaise with other functions within MBDA, ensuring they are fully aware of all improvement activities that are ongoing within the business. You will also provide leadership, direction and support across Assembly Operations at all levels of the organisation.
As a CI Team member your main responsibilities will involve:
1. Set up, support and govern CI reviews, ensuring they are robust and sustainable.
2. Facilitation and running of CI plans to enable the implementation of corrective & preventative actions.
3. Supporting root cause analysis for externally supplied detail products.
4. Reduce defective issues within the business which include concessions, rework and non-conformances using an 8D / A3 methodology.
5. Implementation of process controls & process capability based on critical and significant features driven by the customer.
6. Facilitation of PPS for Root cause analysis within the manufacturing facilities.
7. Facilitation of Improvement activities within the manufacturing facility.
8. Technical expertise on Lean tool sets and change management.
9. Managing improvements into the business.
What we're looking for from you:
1. Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21 OR
2. Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject OR
3. BEng in relevant Engineering or Science Degree.
As a CI Team member your skills and experience will ideally include:
1. Working in or supporting operations in a fast paced production environment.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence teams outside of your direct reporting structure.
3. The ability to form and maintain productive, working relationships across the functions.
4. Experience in the use & understanding of Lean manufacturing & Six sigma methodologies.
5. Experience in the use & understanding of CI & Quality tools.
6. Leading practical problem solving exercises with multi functional teams.
7. The ability to produce, maintain and interpret data using structured approach.
8. Manage projects and or improvement from "cradle to grave".
9. Experience in the use & understanding of Lean manufacturing systems tools and techniques & minitab software.
10. Having a sound understanding of manufacturing, Logistical and engineering processes.
