Specialist Learning Disability Dietitian

Due to the internal movement of staff members, there is an exciting opportunity for a committed Dietitian to join the friendly and supportive Specialist Learning Disability Service in Buckinghamshire. The service is based across Buckinghamshire, with a base in Aylesbury, a base in High Wycombe and opportunities to work flexibly from home also. The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and will join the well-established Dietetic Service. We are looking for a motivated Dietitian wanting to expand and develop their skills, or learn new skills in a learning disability setting. The post is primarily within a community setting so access to a car is essential for this role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with people with a variety of clinical conditions including dysphagia, nutrition support, disordered eating and weight management. Alongside the clinical aspect of the post, the post holder will have the opportunity to participate in assigned projects, pathway development, student training, and policy development.

Person Specification
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
* BSc Nutrition & Dietetics degree or equivalent
* Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
* Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
* Member of British Dietetic Association
AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
* Specialist knowledge and application of dietetic assessments and interventions
* Post registration experience in a relevant clinical setting
* Broad base of clinical experience and ability to demonstrate application of clinical skills
* Evidence of CPD and commitment to life-long learning
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary healthcare setting
* Experience of delivering care to service users with dysphagia living in the community
* Experience of supervising junior staff and students
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
* Clear communication through written, verbal and non-verbal modes
* Experience of delivering training
* Evidence of behavior change/motivational interviewing techniques to support dietetic intervention
ANALYTICAL SKILLS
* Planning and co-ordination of treatment packages
* Ability to use problem solving techniques
* Applied knowledge and risk assessment and management
PHYSICAL SKILLS
* Basic word processing skills
* Car driver essential, or access to a car (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving).
MENTAL EFFORT
* Ability to manage own workload, determine priorities and remain calm under pressure
* Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
* Application of health, safety and risk management policies
* Working with service users with barriers to understanding and/or challenging behaviour
