The Role
They are seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) to oversee and deliver critical rail projects. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems in compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the designated CRE for mechanical and electrical works, ensuring all activities comply with Network Rail standards and regulations.
Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, design reviews, and site works.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, project managers, and site personnel, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Manage technical queries, risk assessments, and safety documentation.
Lead design assurance, ensuring all engineering outputs meet the required quality and safety standards.
Support the development of junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as a CRE within the rail sector.
Comprehensive knowledge of Network Rail standards and design principles.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in rail infrastructure projects, including HV/LV systems, signaling power, and station services.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Chartered or working towards chartered status with a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IMechE, IET) is desirable.
