We are looking foranenthusiasticdietitian to join our acute team as a band 6gastro-surgicaldietitian.The post is suitable for an experienced band 5 or band 6 looking to widen their skills and experience. You will be working with inpatientsandcovering a gastro outpatient clinic.
Previousexperience of nutrition support andenteral feeding is essential.Experience of parenteral nutritionisbeneficial but notessential,providedappropriatetransferableskills can be demonstrated.
We provide CPDopportunities withpreviouspost holders attending PENG, St Marks, andthelow FODMAP course.Regular supervision withexperienceddietitiansworkingacross several areasis also available.We have a dedicated Therapy Practice Education team to support staff development.
You will joina departmentof over30registered dietitians, dietetic support workers and admin staff.We have excellent secretarial and dietetic assistant supportandtake students from Surrey and Coventry Universities.On site accommodation is usually available.

• To provide, as part of the acute adult dietetic team, dietetic services for adult inpatients and outpatients.
• The postholder will be an autonomous practitioner and act as a source of expertise in the area of gastroenterology and surgery, and will also be required to support dietitians providing dietetic care for inpatients with a variety of medical conditions

Clinical:
• To develop and maintain a high standard of knowledge and practical experience in general dietetics, and to provide specialist expertise in areas as gastroenterology, and surgery.
• To manage a highly diverse caseload
Leadership:
• Toassist, support and supervise junior dietitians, dietetic assistants and students contributing to their professional development including appraisal and personal development plans.
Education:
• To recognise the need for continuous professional development. Within the performance system and in discussion with the team leader, the post holder will be responsible of identifying and attending their own training and professional development needs.
Clinical governance:
• To access, critically appraise and use best practice/evidence-based information to contribute to the production and review of clinical guidelines, and to inform care pathways for patients.
Organisational/administrative responsibilities:
• To keep accurate and timely electronic notes for patients. These will be completed within the guidelines of the organisation and professional body, ensuring legibility and accessibility.
Responsibilities for resources:
• To evaluate service user information in line with current evidence and produce new information as required.
Communication:
• To communicate with patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals across the local healthcare environment.
General:
• To assist in the identification of problems where changes to practices and systems or additional resources are required to support caseload and to discuss these with line manager.
