Role overview: The main purpose of the job is to lead sales initiatives for the stainless steel and aluminium product lines across the organisation. This includes working closely with all company sites to drive revenue growth, strengthen relationships with existing clients, and expand into new sectors and markets. Key responsibilities will include: A key aspect of the role is close collaboration with the purchasing team to refine the stock catalogue, ensuring product offerings align with market demands and sales growth opportunities. By optimising the product portfolio, the role aims to maximise revenue potential while maintaining a competitive edge. Partnering with site teams to enhance sales performance and implement strategic plans. Collaborating with purchasing to streamline stock selections and meet customer needs. Expanding the customer base by identifying and targeting new opportunities. Driving sales growth across the full range of stainless steel and aluminium products. Leading the development and execution of sales strategies to increase market share. Coach salespeople across the business to educate and upskill them to aid their personal development. To assist/accompany salespeople with customer visits and to identify additional opportunities. To work with the marketing team to develop marketing campaigns to promote the products to our wider customer base. Identify, monitor and report on competitor activity and market trends. Monitor sales team metrics and activities. Provide relevant monthly management information. Self-development in understanding of business, industry and supply chain. Ensure correct use of KliCC (CRM System) to ensure data is accurate and current. To engage with the purchasing team, operations team and sales managers across the business to ensure the control and minimisation of SMI. Work in close collaboration with all departments to gain 360 feedback, ensure excellent customer satisfaction and strive for continuous growth. Essential relevant experience to include: Industry Knowledge: Thorough experience within the steel industry. A comprehensive knowledge of stainless and aluminium products, grades and the applications thereof. Personality: Enthusiastic, self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on business performance. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible and comfortable in dealing with stakeholders across all levels of a business. Hardworking, persistent and dependable. Strong interpersonal skills. Well-presented and business like. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel for customer visits across the UK as needed. Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand basic business finance, e.g., gross margin and EBITDA percentages and calculations. Familiarity with data analysis and reporting. Must be a competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals. Competent in Microsoft Excel. Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to demonstrate success and experience managing major customers and contracts, particularly achieving genuine sales and relationship development.
