Avian Ecology Ltd is a specialist ecological consultancy, delivering expert advice and services across a wide range of projects, from renewable energy developments to infrastructure and conservation initiatives. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a GIS Manager to lead our GIS function, supporting our team of ecologists through data management, spatial analysis, and high-quality mapping. Key Responsibilities: Data Management – Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of spatial and ecological datasets Data Interrogation & Analysis – Conduct spatial analysis, interpret survey data, and generate insights to support ecological assessments GIS & Mapping – Create high-quality figures, maps, and plans using MapInfo, QGIS, and CAD Technical Support – Manage GIS-related software, troubleshoot database issues, and optimize workflows Team Collaboration – Work closely with ecologists to integrate GIS outputs into reports and deliverables Process Improvement – Develop and implement best practices for data visualization, mapping, and spatial analysis About You: ✅ Strong GIS expertise, with experience in MapInfo, QGIS, and CAD ✅ Proven background in data management, spatial analysis, and database interrogation ✅ Understanding of environmental and ecological datasets and their applications ✅ Previous experience in the ecology or environmental sector is highly desirable ✅ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and develop the GIS function within a growing consultancy.
