We wish to recruit a Research Associate to work in the research group of Professor Xiaodong Zhang (www.imperial.ac.uk/people/xiaodong.zhang; www.crick.ac.uk/research/labs/xiaodong.zhang) in the Section of Structural and Synthetic Biology, Department of Infectious Disease, at Imperial College London. Prof. Zhang\\\'s currently seconded to the Francis Crick Institute, where her laboratory is currently located. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of international researchers investigating the structures and mechanisms of large key complexes in DNA damage signaling and repair. The successful candidate will mainly be located at the Francis Crick Institute but will also be able at Imperial College London, South Kensington campus.
What you would be doing
The successful candidate will conduct research investigating signaling complexes in DNA damage response using biochemical, biophysical and cryoEM techniques. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in structural biology, with advanced knowledge and experience in cryo-electron microscopy and biochemistry, and have a demonstrated track record in conducting high quality original research. The posts will be initially for 3 years but with the scope to be further extended.
What we are looking for
* Hold a PhD in structural biology or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £43,003 - £46,297 per annum
* Practical experience within a research environment and / or publication in relevant and refereed journals.
* Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including cryo electron microscopy, enzymology, protein-DNA interactions.
* Practical experience within protein expression and purification.
* Knowledge of enzymes and protein-DNA interactions.
* Knowledge of research methods of macromolecular complexes and nucleic acid interactions.
* Knowledge of research methods involving cryo electron microscopy and image processing.
