Location: Liskeard Office and Field Based Role Purpose: To conduct detailed field surveys and assessments to support the network planning team, pole operations, build teams, and installations. This role provides expert advice on challenging scenarios, ensures accurate data collection, and delivers actionable insights to facilitate efficient and reliable fibre network planning and deployment. Main Responsibilities: Conduct detailed site surveys for underground (UG) and overhead (OH) infrastructure, assessing feasibility, potential risks, and optimal deployment solutions. Work with pole teams, build teams, and installation engineers to address specific challenges and provide on-site technical advice. Collaborate closely with the network planning team to ensure survey findings align with design principles and project requirements Collect and record accurate survey data, including measurements, asset conditions, and environmental factors, ensuring data integrity for planning and design purposes. Provide expert feedback to network planners, helping to refine designs based on field conditions and operational realities. Identify and escalate potential risks or constraints that could impact project timelines or deployment feasibility. Liaise with contractors, and landowners to facilitate permissions and resolve site-specific issues. Ensure all survey activities comply with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Support the quality assurance process by validating design inputs against real-world conditions. Maintain comprehensive and organised records of all survey activities, ensuring accessibility for planning and reporting purposes. Use mapping tools and software to support data visualisation and integration into planning systems. Ensure survey outputs meet the quality standards required for network design and deployment. Act as a liaison between the planning team and field operations, ensuring clear communication and efficient issue resolution. Participate in project meetings to share insights and contribute to planning strategies. Essential Person Specification Knowledge: Familiarity with feasibility assessment techniques for installations and core network builds. Understanding of network planning and design principles Experience with GIS tools or mapping software (desirable) Awareness of local authority planning requirements (desirable) Knowledge of Openreach or National Grid pole programmes (desirable) Skills/Attributes: Strong ability to assess and document pole and route infrastructure accurately. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to overcoming site-specific challenges (desirable). Training or certification in network planning or design (desirable) Circumstances: Frequent travel for site visits, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
