Wirral University Teaching Hospital is seeking to recruit perioperative leaders of the future to join the directorate of perioperative medicine leadership team.
Our 22 operating theatres are across three sites delivering a wide variety of specialism to patients of the Wirral Peninsula and beyond.
We are looking to recruit a motivated, experienced theatre nurse or ODP to join our leadership team.
The Senior Theatre Nurse/ODP will provide visible leadership within the clinical area of Urology and Robotic theatre supporting the patients perioperative pathway.
Main duties of the job
The potential post holder will report directly to their theatre speciality lead working in close partnership with other leaders in theatres to support efficient, safe and a quality service to patients.
The post holder will provide strong leadership, and be a visible, credible senior presence. The post holder will also work directly with trainees/new starters to support training packages and competence.
The post holder will support the speciality lead with work rotas, mandatory training/appraisal compliance and absence management.
This post is open to both NMC registered Nurses and HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioners.
We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate health care professional who possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to motivate and negotiate and is passionate about perioperative care.
This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period in line with trust policy.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Essential
* Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with professional registration (NMC/HCPC registration)
* Post registration qualification in specialists theatre area (Anaesthetics, Surgery, Recovery) or work based experience specific to role requirements
* Healthcare related degree (or working towards)
* Mentorship in Clinical Practice
Desirable
* Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Paediatric life support course (APLS/PLS)
* Advanced Life Support/Immediate Life Support Qualification (ALS/ILS)
* Leadership Qualification (ILM/Degree module/NHS Leadership Academy)
Knowledge and Skills

* Ability to document patient information in a variety of methods including paper and electronic records
* Knowledge of current National and local legislations including NHS operational plans
