Title: Principal Chartered Civil Engineer Location: London About the role: We are looking for a Principal Chartered Civil Engineer to join a growing design consultancy and provide ongoing technical design support to a range of clients in the UK with ongoing work available and excellent development opportunities for the right individual. As a Principal Chartered Civil Engineer, you will be working on a range of residential, commercial and education projects and should be able to demonstrate experience in completing design on projects in these sectors. Within the role of Principal Chartered Civil Engineer, it will be essential for the chosen individual to complete accurate reports and designs, and your input and contribution to the team are viewed as essential in the continued development of the business. As part of your responsibilities as a Principal Chartered Civil Engineer, your guidance to more junior engineers and CAD technicians will be invaluable in supporting the business as the engineering department as a whole strives to provide continued excellent service to the company’s clients. You will be required to ensure best practices are applied within the office, and to assist the directors with improving the company’s design services and operational efficiency. You will be working on projects for an existing client base, as well as generating new clients and opportunities so a self-motivated driven individual who relishes the opportunity to lead a team and proactively represent the business is required. About you: Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of experience working for UK-based design consultancies, and a background working on similar projects is desired to ensure a close match to the existing and upcoming workload. In addition to having a confident, commercial and professional outlook you should have: Degree in Civil Engineering Minimum of 8 years UK based experience Experience working with drainage design and flood risk assessments Strength in working to appropriate agreement sections - S38, S278, S104 Strong analytical, communication and technical design skills Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English Chartered status with an appropriate body - MICE, CIWEM or CIHT Proven experience producing detailed drainage and highway calculations, and sketches following principles outlined in CIRIA design guides, BRE digest, BS EN752 and the Design and Construction Guidance Commercial awareness of costing, budgets and quotations Report writing and preparation of specifications Software required: AutoCAD Causeway Flow PDS Microsoft Office suite About the business: The company are an established design consultancy who have been working on UK-based projects for the last 45 years and has built up a reputation for working on projects to a high level of detail and client satisfaction.
