EPC Project Engineer – Renewable Energy
Our client is a global independent power producer who generates renewable energy from wind, solar, hydro, biomass and storage projects.
Alongside originating and developing renewable energy projects, they also act as a global equipment distributor and O&M services provider.
They are currently seeking an experienced EPC Project Engineer to oversee the development of renewables projects across the UK, with a focus on large-scale solar projects across England.
Your responsibilities:
1. Assisting subcontractors with technical queries, reviewing test procedures and safe systems of work.
2. Providing design reviews, ensuring electrical compliance to produce maintainable sites and to avoid errors in build process.
3. Providing risk evaluation as required for HSE and Quality departments.
4. Advising on material selection, providing cost/risk analysis to support a long term, quality build approach.
5. Participating in subcontractor selection, PQQ, & audits to support the EPC team.
6. Assist and support the EPC team in the preparation of suitable plans/drawings/layouts.
7. Assessing component installation to avoid costly errors.
8. Providing recommendations and ways of working to standardise installation quality throughout the UK portfolio to deliver a repetitive build for EPC.
9. Engage with grid connection network operators to discuss appropriate technical solutions for projects.
10. Providing technical advisory support in the construction and O&M handover phase of a project.
11. Support the EPC team with documentation transfer (contracts, technical administrative) to the EPC or O&M team during the project closing.
Requirements
1. Knowledge in project costing.
2. Engineer degree (in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering) or equivalent vocational qualifications in electrical engineering.
3. Knowledge of data analysis tools and GIS (valued).
4. Data analysis and interpretation skills.
5. Experience advising clients on technical aspects of solar projects; inspection and testing experience.
6. Experience in renewables (photovoltaic – essential, battery, wind desirable).
7. MS Office, AutoCAD and Electrical Engineering software aptitude.
