Job summary
East London CAMHS Alternative to Admissions Pathway have recently been successful in securing funding to enable to provision of a Specialist DBT-A service pilot. The pilot is initially funded for 12 months, however with strong clinical evidence of effectiveness there is opportunity to extend this funding substantively. We seek to recruit a team of dedicated professionals who will be expected to join a team based training in October 2024 to enable mobilization of the service in early 2025.
The East London CAMHS DBT Service will provide high intensity, effective; evidence-based psychological treatment for adolescents with traits and/or diagnosis of an (emerging) Borderline Personality Disorder, including self-harm and suicidality.
The successful candidate will have a qualification in an appropriate mental health profession such as Nursing, Systemic Psychotherapy, Clinical/ Educational Psychology, Child Psychotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Social Work, with up to date registration.
Please note that the successful candidate for this position will be required to attend a two-day course titled "Advanced Clinical Skills in DBT: Skills for DBT Team Leaders to Promote Team Adherence," scheduled for October 10-11, 2024. The course will be conducted via Zoom. You will be compensated for the two days of training or can opt to take the time back as TOIL at a later date.
Main duties of the job
1. Working autonomously within professional guidelines to undertake specialist assessments and systematically provide a highly specialised evidence-based therapy (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) to users of community-based mental health teams who are experiencing complex emotional needs associated with an emerging or diagnosis of moderate to severe 'personality disorder' and cope by engaging in suicidal and self-harming behaviour.
2. Supervising psychotherapeutic assessments and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions delivered by trainees, psychological therapists and clinical members of community based mental health teams who provide psychologically based care and treatment to people with complex emotional needs.

To support the shaping and development of Service and Trust strategy and support the delivery of CAMHS priorities and objectives through an effective operational multidisciplinary management model.
To ensure the team has strong and effective links with other relevant services across the localities, including representing the service on appropriate multiagency groups, communicating highly complex information and contributing to the overall development of services.

Person Specification
TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
3. oQualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist under the domain of Clinical Psychologist, or Registered Nurse
4. oQualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist having successfully completed a training course recognised/accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or equivalent, and registered with ACP or Registered Nurse
5. oQualified Systemic Family Psychotherapist, registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) via the College of Family Couple and Systemic Therapy, and post-graduate qualification in relevant mental health/social welfare profession with demonstrable practice over a minimum of four years.
6. oPost qualification training in the clinical supervision of trainees.
7. oDDBT Trained (Intensive) or extensive equivalent experience of working within the model in an outpatient setting
Desirable
8. oPPost-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
9. oExperience in neuropsychological assessment
EXPERIENCE
Essential
10. oAAssessed experience of specialist psychological assessment and with a wide range of presentations of varying severity. Typically this would involve significant experience at highly specialist level, or its equivalent demonstrated through CV and interview
11. oExperience of working with moderate to severe mental health problems with a wide range of client groups across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
12. oDemonstrate further specialist clinical experience and training, through a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a specialist clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months, or an agreed alternative
13. oDoctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, child and adolescent mental health and a range of therapeutic models
14. oExperience of teaching, training and/or supervision, including supervision of clinical psychology trainee(s)
15. oExperience working within a multi-disciplinary therapy service
