Commercial Manager – Main Contractor
Location: Ringwood, Hampshire
Salary: Up to £80,000 + Car Allowance £6000 + 25 Days Holiday + Pension
Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading offsite design and build contractor based near Ringwood, who is searching for a Commercial Manager to join the business.
The company is well known for being the South’s largest modular building contractor and has successfully delivered projects across the MoD, Residential and Education sectors.
Projects have included classrooms through to large scale accommodation with project values ranging from £1M to £30M.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Finance & Commercial Director.
2. Manage commercial contracts with the business & clients at all stages.
3. Understand customer requirements in specific sectors and manage projects commercially to satisfy those requirements.
4. Collaborate with sales and estimating to develop accurate bids.
5. Ensure commercial assurance of the projects under management.
6. Manage the company’s Commercial Team, supporting Project Quantity Surveyors on site where required.
7. Work with Project Quantity Surveyors to ensure timely and accurate subcontract placements.
8. Provide commercial assurance of project margin performance through accurate forecasting and identification of issues.
9. Manage commercial performance, cashflow, margin management, and commercial risk on allocated projects.
10. Support the Project Delivery Team in contract management, including managing warranties and creating commercial value.
11. Identify potential disputes, provide reports, and escalate issues appropriately.
Experience / Qualifications:
1. Proven ability to develop commercial opportunities on projects and achieve profitability targets.
2. Experience in leading, influencing, and communicating with others.
3. Extensive experience managing commercial contracts (JCT or NEC) with clients is essential.
4. Demonstrable experience in the construction industry is also essential.
5. Appropriate qualifications with professional membership of RICS, CIOB, or ICE is desirable.
6. Valid CSCS card is required.
