We are currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Assistant to work on a permanent contract with a UK Police Force.
The role is paying £29,109.00 - £31,296.00 per annum.
The role involves working with a UK-based Police Force, and as such applicants will need to be able to obtain national security clearance in order to take up the position.
Purpose of the role:
Ensure the effective and accurate day to day operation of the Warwickshire Police and OPCC payrolls to ensure that individuals are paid correctly and on time.
To meet statutory and other reporting requirements placed on the PCC and Chief Constable by other organisations including the HMRC.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To ensure that individuals are paid accurately and on time, in accordance with police regulations, the Police Staff Handbook and HMRC rules.
2. To produce an annual timetable for the production and payment of the payrolls and meet statutory reporting deadlines ensure this is communicated to those individuals who are assigned tasks in the timetable.
3. In conjunction with the Transactional Services Manager design and implement a payroll control / audit routine which ensures the payroll is accurate and minimises the risk to the organisation or loss arising from error or fraud.
4. To ensure the gross to net run is checked in accordance with payroll procedure and provide performance figures that provide assurance as to the accuracy and timeliness of payroll transactions.
5. To ensure that less frequent non-routine or ad-hoc tasks are completed accurately and on time.
6. To carryout complex manual pay calculations and adjustments to perform calculations which are outside the functionality of the payroll systems or to verify payroll figures.
7. To complete statutory and non-statutory returns.
8. To provide a timely, professional response to payroll queries.
9. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
10. To supervise and monitor the handling of information and record keeping, ensuring alignment with legislation, policies and guidance.
Experience:
* Providing a high quality, customer focused payroll service.
* Providing written and verbal responses to customer queries.
* Implementing changes to terms and conditions in line with regulations and HMRC rules.
* Working collaboratively within a team to deliver a high quality service against strict deadlines.
* Knowledge of how to perform complex payroll calculations including calculating gross and net pay and complex pay calculations.
* HMRC PAYE rules and regulatory framework governing payroll.
* Designing and operating payroll controls.
* Understanding of the functionality available from a contemporary payroll system.
Education:
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, including Maths and English.
