Role Summary
The Occupational Health Technician role at MCL is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organised individual to join our expanding team. MCL has a busy central clinic in Aberdeen which supports our clients to achieve their statutory duties to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare of people at work. We’re looking for a reliable and motivated professional with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. The successful applicant will be a self-starter who takes initiative and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. They will be comfortable troubleshooting and problem-solving and have a passion for supporting the success of the organisation.
As part of the MCL Medics team, your key responsibilities include.
* Provision of health screening & health surveillance assessments
* Day to day maintenance of health screening equipment & facilities
* Recording & maintaining accurate, clear, concise medical records
* Managing Health Records ensuring safe storage, security and confidentiality of all OH records, at all times complying with relevant legislation and good practice
* Ensuring safe storage of equipment when offsite
* Maintaining high professional standards at all times
* Work to strict protocols & procedures set by MCL Medics and in line with SEQOHS accreditation
* Technicians are required to demonstrate, or develop through their training period, competency in the performance of a wide variety of screening tests and techniques, including the following:
o Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse, BMI
o Audiometry, Spirometry, Skin, HAVS, Vision
o Urinalysis - Drug & Alcohol testing
o 12 Lead ECG testing
o Chester step fitness testing
o Assisting with D4 driver assessments, OGUK (offshore) assessments, Seafarer & Rail medicals
o General clinic administration duties to include (but not limited to) record management, filing, copying, report encryption, clinic preparation, reception, appointment booking.
This permanent role will be 5 days per week in the clinic.
What Are We Looking For?
* Experience in a health screening or medical environment
* Health related qualifications are preferable but similar workplace/educational experiences considered
* Proactive, friendly, and professional individuals with workload management confidence
* Contribution towards safe working practices across the OH Delivery team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to contribute ideas and suggestions for improvements in order to achieve more effective working practices
* Someone who remains calm under pressure and is trustworthy and honest
* Energetic and enthusiastic approach to work
* Good understanding of Microsoft packages, and comfortable in use of OH software
