Job Purpose: To carry out lighting planned maintenance and emergency repair work in ASDA stores to pre-determined standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy. Key Accountabilities To represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with the lighting mate, IST and ASDA colleagues. To complete the PPM schedule within agreed timescales and to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and to the laid-down procedures. To respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the Helpdesk and to assess the requirements of the job and carry out repairs as and where necessary. To prioritise maintenance and repair work to achieve agreed timescales and response times. To order spares to the laid-down procedures. To organise and control the hiring of plant and equipment as necessary. To identify non-repairable faults in lighting equipment and promptly advise the Area Manager of findings, with recommendations regarding suitable replacement. To advise the GSM of any repair and maintenance issues relating to lighting that are likely to affect the smooth running of the store. To carry out surveys and complete reports as required by the Area Manager. To assist lighting technicians in other areas when requested to do so by the Area Manager. To ensure all tools and equipment necessary (as per company tool list) to complete maintenance and repairs are available and serviceable at all times. To supervise, monitor and control the work, attendance and timekeeping of the Lighting Mate(s) to ensure quality standards and efficiency are maintained. To ensure that all members of the lighting team are aware of and understand company practices and procedures relating to lighting installations. To work with company and ASDA colleagues to ensure that laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times. All work will be completed to the highest standards in an efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst complying with the laid-down Company Health and Safety policy. To carry out all tasks assigned within the allotted time period to the satisfaction of the company and client. To be proficient in the use of written and verbal communication, report writing and recording procedures. To attend training courses as and where necessary and to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical and business developments. Ensure all mandatory Evolve on-line training modules are completed. To comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the company’s Health and Safety Policy at all times. To work with company and ASDA colleagues to ensure that laid-down standards of quality are maintained at all times. To represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and develop a good working relationships with City and ASDA colleagues. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE General Education GCSE standard Professional/Academic/ Vocational Qualifications Recognised electrical qualification 18th Edition Specific Knowledge Electrical - Edition Wiring Regulations Health & Safety for working on Filling Station lighting (City-delivered course) Basic installation of lighting in stores, e.g. cable glands, conduits, track, light density and spread, cable types and loadings Demonstrated Behaviours Ability to maintain/repair the full range of lighting equipment in an ASDA store to recognised standards, e.g. filament, fluorescent, mercury vapour, sodium, low voltage, car park Ability to maintain/repair high mast columns at ASDA stores to recognised standards (City-organised course) PC literate Specialist Requirements Good communication skills (written and verbal) Helpful / friendly manner Customer focused Self motivated Ability to work at heights Competent in the use of steps and ladders Able to operate high access equipment Ability to distinguish colours to the standard required for lighting maintenance and repair in buildings Full current driving licence Degree of flexibility required. Will be required to stay away from home occasionally. Willingness to work flexible hours. Night shift may be required. Class 1 (7.5 tonne) driving licence. IPAF 1b, 3a and 3b.
