About the role:
Astute's Power team is working with one of the leaders in the UK Waste Management Sector who own and operate a fleet of Energy from Waste Power Stations across the UK. We are looking for a Performance Manager to initially focus on one site, but with a clear development path to move into a fleet position. You'll be tasked with identifying performance issues, maximising plant availability & performance in addition to focusing on continuous improvement of standard operating processes.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Head of Performance you will:
1. Develop, maintain, and monitor the site's performance.
2. Review and improve plant SOP's to enhance processes.
3. Monitor plant performance against the original design specification to identify and rectify shortfalls.
4. Fault find operating issues and provide recommendations to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
5. Manage performance team budget and identify costs and estimates for projects.
6. Develop improvement strategies to provide solutions to issues.
7. Deliver plant training and competency assessments.
8. Lead process improvement projects.
9. Review the CEMS data daily to confirm compliance.
10. Support the wider operations team with contractor management and supporting safe systems of work through isolations, LOTO, Permit to Work etc.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
1. Ideally degree qualified in a relevant Engineering field
2. At least five years experience working in a Power Station or similar environment - this could be an Energy from Waste plant, Biomass, Combined Heat & Power, CCGT, Refinery, COMAH site etc
3. IOSH or NEBOSH
Personal skills:
The Performance Manager role would suit someone who is:
1. Able to demonstrate leadership qualities
2. Passionate about continuous process improvement
3. Prior knowledge of DCS systems and trend software to analyse data
4. Experience carrying out performance modelling which could include heat and mass balance calculations, etc
5. Good stakeholder, both internal and external, relationship management
6. Advanced with IT skills in MS Office
