Are you a healthcare professional who has a keen interest in furthering the advancement of our next generation of healthcare professionals? Are you looking to develop an academic career while still maintaining close contact with clinical practice? Or do you have practice education experience and could contribute to the leadership of practice education provision in our wide range of healthcare programmes? If so, we have the ideal opportunity to join our great team.
The role operates across a designated portfolio of the healthcare programmes offered in the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, allowing you to gain knowledge of a range of healthcare programmes, particularly the requirements of their practice placements. While we have sites in Yeovil and Portsmouth, you would most likely operate out of the purpose-built Bournemouth Gateway Building, which is equipped with extensive simulation resources and equipment, along with learning and working spaces specifically designed for the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences.
Within the role, you will support a designated portfolio of placements and programmes (including apprenticeship programmes) giving you the opportunity to establish collaborative relationships with a wide range of people. Additionally, you will link with the teams in the Faculty to support successful practice education. Maintaining our existing placement provision and developing new placements is key to our commitment to contemporary placement provision. Innovative approaches that showcase excellent preparation of our future healthcare professionals are welcomed to ensure that our placement offer is effective and meets expectations of regulatory bodies and our students.
You will have experience in supporting students and, depending on your experience, leading effective practice education provision. You will have current registration as a healthcare professional with at least two years of clinical practice and experience of learning and teaching in practice.
While the role means you are active across the Faculty, you will have a clear support structure from the Department of Nursing Science. The vision of the Department is to provide high-quality education and research that supports excellence in practice to the benefit of all those who access healthcare, nationally and globally. The Faculty is a supportive and vibrant community of staff, practitioners, students, and service users who work in partnership. You will engage with a range of programmes and be part of the team supporting our developing suite of apprenticeship programmes.
For an informal discussion, please contact Amanda Watson, Head of Practice Education Health and Social Sciences Faculty via email amandaw@bournemouth.ac.uk or Professor Sue Green, Deputy Head of Department Nursing Sciences via email sgreen@bournemouth.ac.uk.
