Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Family Paralegal to handle a varied caseload, with a particular focus on domestic abuse or private child matters. As a fee-earning paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting the department while managing a caseload with the guidance of experienced solicitors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a caseload of family law matters, including domestic abuse and private children’s issues.
* Draft legal documents such as statements, court applications, and correspondence.
* Liaise with clients, providing them with expert legal advice and assistance.
* Assist solicitors in preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings.
* Conduct legal research and keep up to date with current family law legislation.
* Attend clients and other parties where required, supporting the smooth progression of cases.
* Ensure compliance with internal procedures and legal requirements.
* Contribute to the development and growth of the family law department.
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience as a Family Paralegal with a focus on domestic abuse or private child matters.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A strong understanding of family law, particularly in the areas of domestic abuse and private children matters.
* Client-focused with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
* Ability to remain calm and empathetic under pressure.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience in fee-earning or billing within a family law context.
* Knowledge of the Family Court system and procedures.
