Supporting UK Manufacturing and Construction
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Structural Engineer to join our Masonry support Engineering Team, focusing on compliance, technical excellence, and coordinating Technicians. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in structural design, compliance, and workflow coordination, ensuring seamless integration between design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.
As our new engineer, you will lead structural validation, uphold compliance standards, and drive innovation in masonry support, wind posts, brick slip and masonry reinforcement solutions. You will work collaboratively with Designers and Technicians to optimize structural integrity, buildability, and project execution.
We are looking for a professional who can lead compliance strategies, mentor technical staff, and contribute to workflow evolution in a responsibility-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Structural Design & Analysis
o Develop structural designs, calculations, and analyses for wind posts, masonry support, and other structural elements.
o Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, British Standards and building regulations.
o Utilize finite element analysis (FEA) and structural software to optimize designs.
o Evaluate loading conditions, check deflection limits, and approve connection details.
2. Technical Leadership & Compliance Management
o Act as the compliance authority within the Engineering Team, ensuring all designs align with regulatory requirements.
o Work closely with Technicians to translate engineering specifications into constructible components.
o Drive process improvements by refining design standards, calculation templates, and technical workflows.
o Validate masonry support design methodologies and enhance engineering best practices.
3. Management & Coordination
o Manage multiple projects concurrently, overseeing engineering deliverables from concept to execution.
o Liaise with architects, contractors, and clients to ensure engineering solutions align with project constraints.
o Participate in design reviews, site meetings, and technical discussions to address on-site challenges.
o Provide engineering support to sales and estimation teams, ensuring feasibility assessments are robust.
4. Delegation & Knowledge Transfer
o Assign engineering tasks to Technicians, ensuring efficient workload distribution.
o Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, developing their skills in structural validation and compliance.
o Lead cross-functional collaboration between Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing to streamline workflows.
o Maintain and enhance the engineering knowledge base, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into future projects.
5. Technical Documentation & Reporting
o Prepare detailed calculation reports and engineering specifications for internal and external stakeholders.
o Produce general arrangement drawings, section details, and connection designs.
o Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor, Tekla Structures, TEDDS, and Microsoft 365 for task execution (or equivalents of these packages).
o Contribute to standardization efforts, ensuring engineering templates and workflows align with best practices.
