About the Opportunity
Start a paid internship with Heidelberg Materials and gain a fascinating insight into an exciting and rewarding career in the construction industry. This internship is to join our graduate programme.
We’re one of the world’s largest suppliers of heavy building materials, employing 51,000 people at around 3,000 sites in over 50 countries.
Our core products are aggregates, cement, concrete, and asphalt, which are used in some of the largest construction projects across the globe.
We offer paid four to nine-week summer internships for undergraduates and graduates looking to gain experience in business and the building materials industry.
Our interns gain exposure to many areas of our business including quarry operations, cement operations, major projects, marine operations, recycling, commercial, business, strategy, sustainability, and finance.

Exposure
On your internship you’ll be exposed to:
1. Quarry operations: Gain practical experience in managing quarry operations, resource extraction, environmental management, and operational efficiency.
2. Cement operations: Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the cement manufacturing process from raw material extraction to final product.
3. Major projects: Learn about the intricacies of securing new business and participate in bid preparation, proposal writing, and contract negotiations.
4. Marine operations: Discover more about dredging, extraction, transportation, and distribution of marine aggregates.
5. Recycling: Learn more about how we are reusing materials to create recycled construction products.
6. Commercial: Delve into the commercial side of the business and learn about sales strategies and customer relationship management.
7. Business: Understand more about our business operations and gain insight into strategic planning and financial management.
8. Strategy: Work with senior leaders to analyse market trends and form long-term strategies.
9. Sustainability: Learn about our sustainability efforts and work on projects to improve resource efficiency.

Entry requirements:
You must have graduated in 2025 or be graduating in 2026 and expected to achieve a 2:1 in any of the following areas: engineering, sustainability, science, technology, maths, geography, or business.
British citizenship or UK settled status.
