Sizewell C (SZC) is set to become the UK's most advanced nuclear power station, delivering 3.2GW of reliable, low-carbon electricity - enough to power 7% of the nation's demand for the next 60 years. Backed by a robust regulatory framework, extensive government support, and lessons learned from Hinkley Point C, SZC presents an extraordinary opportunity to shape the future of clean energy in the UK.
We're recruiting a Head of Civils Works Project Management Office (PMO) - a senior leadership role at the heart of the Civils Works Programme (CWP), delivering packages including enabling works, marine and tunnelling infrastructure, main civils, and roads and networks.
What you'll be leading
As Head of the Civils Works PMO, you will oversee a critical programme function—owning, shaping, and enhancing all PMO activities across this complex infrastructure portfolio.
Reporting to the Head of Programme Controls and the Civils Works Programme Director, you'll provide strategic oversight and hands-on leadership to a multidisciplinary team covering schedule, cost, risk, change, reporting, and digital integration.
This is your opportunity to set the standard for Project Controls on a national megaproject.
What you'll deliver
* Leadership of the Civils PMO, fostering an integrated, performance-driven culture
* Implementation of robust programme controls aligned with SZC's "Digital by Default" strategy
* Management of PMO functional leads and Controls Managers
* Strategic partnership with the Civil Works Alliance, including Laing O'Rourke, Balfour Beatty, and Bouygues TP
* Accountability for performance reporting on cost, risk, schedule, and change
* Fostering continuous improvement, innovation, and cost-awareness within your team
* Contributing to wider SZC project and stakeholder engagement, including government and regulators
What you bring
* Proven leadership in Project Controls on major infrastructure or engineering projects (ideally >£4bn)
* Experience across core PMO functions: cost, schedule, risk, change, and performance insights
* Ability to manage matrixed teams and influence senior stakeholders
* A strategic, action-oriented approach to problem-solving and performance
* Familiarity with NEC / FIDIC contracts and programme assurance best practices
* Experience in nuclear, energy, or regulated infrastructure sectors is desirable
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in engineering, construction, business, or project management
* Membership or certification from APM, AACE, PMI, or similar is highly desirable
* Expertise in Project Controls systems and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Power BI)
Why join SZC?
* Be part of a landmark infrastructure project
* Collaborate with global engineering leaders and cutting-edge technology
* Lead best-in-class PMO strategies in a high-impact environment
