Location: University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford, OX1 2JD Salary: £ 38,674 - £ 46,913 per annum Contract: Full Time, Permanent About Us Sitting at the heart of the University the Planning and Council Secretariat (PACS) team is responsible for supporting the University’s governance and planning processes, operating its resource allocation and internal charging mechanisms and driving forward its business intelligence and data governance initiatives. About the Role As a Data Officer within the Resource Allocation Section, you will take responsibility for several aspects of the section’s work in providing data to support the University’s key decision-making committees, as well as working on statutory returns to public authorities. You will contribute to work on the central systems that drive the University’s resource allocation and internal charging mechanisms. As well as collecting, cleansing, analysing and manipulating data you will be responsible for communicating with end users about how to use central systems to help them achieve planned changes. You will need to quickly establish the expertise to be a trusted source of information and guidance on central systems for colleagues around the university. You will also liaise directly with data agencies outside the university. About You You will• be educated to degree level in a numerate discipline, or have equivalent experience• be an expert user of Microsoft Excel and able to use it to manage large data sets• be able to demonstrate strong numerical analysis skills• be able to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge about complex processes so that you can confidently talk to colleagues around the university as an expert guide• be able to analyse written and numerical information and draw inferences from the material supported by argument and evidence;• be able to demonstrate good written communication skills including the ability to present and explain complex information about data processes and outcomes;• be a good communicator and team-worker who can manage their own workload and meet deadlines Application Process • A covering letter/supporting statement • Your CV • The details of two referees
