Job description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Providing customers with an excellent enquiry service.
* Responding to enquiries received by the local housing teams where appropriate or ensure the enquiry is directed to the appropriate person or team in a timely way in line with service standards.
* Seeking advice and support from more senior officers where necessary.
* Treating customers with respect, demonstrating sensitivity for the customs, culture and beliefs of others.
* Dealing with tenants and the public on a regular basis for example interviewing tenants in relation to their housing requirements usually at a local housing office, in the tenants own home or community venue.
* Maintaining an up to date knowledge of housing legislation, policies and procedures to respond to enquiries and maintaining a working knowledge of other Council Services.
* Applying the Housing Services policies and procedures to work seeking advice and support from more senior officers where necessary.
* Accurately recording information on computer or paper records in a timely manner crosschecking data where required.
* Providing information such as simple statistics to staff and managers where required.
* Providing an efficient and accurate cash collection, daily collation and banking service at sites where cash is taken.
Requirements:
* Qualification in housing or related social subject.
* Experience of dealing with the public in sensitive situations with an awareness of promoting equality and diversity.
* Ability to work on own initiative to meet deadlines and targets.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality in exchanging information with the public, colleagues and partners.
* Knowledge of the scope and functions of the housing service.
* Ability to explain complex information such as policies and procedures in a clear, understandable and concise manner.
* Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
* Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
