Job overview
ARE YOU A MOTIVATED STAFF NURSE WHO WANTS TO PARTICIPATE AND CONTRIBUTE TO ACHIEVING EXCELLENT STANDARDS OF CARE?
This is an exciting time to join our Orthopaedic team as we relocate to the new purpose built elective Hub. This consists of 2 theatres, 8 daycare pods and a 28 bedded in patient ward.
The in-patient ward was developed by teams including clinicians and involved patients groups, staff members and infection and prevention control. National and international research and best practice were also considered in its design. This has led to the development of an innovative environment using technology, with increased privacy and dignity for our patients due to the high number of side rooms.
The daycare pods are a new way of working which provides each patient with an individualized room before their operation and on return from theatre.
Within the elective Hub we will be caring for a variety of elective joint procedures, including total hip and knee replacements as well as orthopaedic day case procedures.
The elective orthopaedic department has a reputation as a high performing ward, having received “good” ward accreditation, and a previous Paget ward of the year, where patients are first and foremost at the centre of all our care delivery.
Successful applicants will ideally have previous orthopaedic experience and a knowledge of enhanced recovery programmes for elective joint surgery.
Main duties of the job
As the new Hub is purpose built for elective Orthopaedic procedures, your role will include the safe management of patient’s pre and post operatively. Working closely with members of the MDT in order to promote early mobilization, optimized analgesia and safe, early discharge home.
As a flexible employer we can offer part time and full time hours, with the requirement that unsocial and night shifts are covered.
We expect all applicants to be committed to providing a high standard of patient care which embraces the vision of Compassion in Practice and the 6c’s.
Working for our organisation
We want to attract the best and brightest people to work with us and that means we will look after you from the moment you apply for a role at the Trust and throughout your career with us.
