The Cloud Storage Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based storage solutions to support our organization's data infrastructure. This role focuses on optimizing storage performance, cost, security, and scalability within a cloud environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Optimize storage solutions for cloud-specific performance and cost factors.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data storage requirements and implement appropriate solutions.
3. Design and implement automated backup solutions using cloud-native tools and services.
4. Ensure data is backed up across multiple geographic regions to enhance redundancy and availability.
5. Regularly test backup systems for integrity and performance.
6. Monitor and analyze cloud storage usage to identify cost-saving opportunities.
7. Implement cost-efficiency strategies such as data tiering, lifecycle management, and resource optimization.
8. Generate reports and provide insights on storage usage and expenditure.
9. Implement robust cloud security practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and data masking.
10. Ensure compliance with industry standards and cloud-specific regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
11. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to maintain data integrity and security.
12. Utilize cloud automation tools to enable dynamic resource provisioning and management.
13. Develop scripts and workflows for efficient storage operations.
14. Adjust storage solutions dynamically to meet evolving business demands and workloads.
15. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans utilizing cloud features such as replication and snapshots.
16. Test and refine recovery processes to ensure rapid restoration of critical data and systems across multiple regions.
17. Collaborate with stakeholders to define recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
18. Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Extensive experience in cloud storage technologies and data management.
3. Expertise in cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
4. Strong understanding of storage protocols and architectures (e.g., S3, NFS, iSCSI).
5. Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform).
6. Solid knowledge of cloud security principles and compliance frameworks.
7. Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
10. Ability to take the lead and follow projects through to completion.
11. Specialize in cloud storage technologies, including object storage, block storage, and file storage.
12. Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
13. Experience with monitoring and logging tools for cloud storage.
14. Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
15. Understanding of hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.
16. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Cloudformation.
17. Proficiency in database management and integration with cloud storage solutions.
18. Experience with performance tuning and optimization of cloud storage systems.
