Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust – Basildon, Essex
We have an excellent opportunity for a Speciality Doctor to join our well-established Medicine, DMOP and Stroke team based at MSE.
You will be based within the Renal Medicine department and your role will include work in general medicine, geriatrics, and specialist medicine. You will be expected to carry out your duties in accordance with an agreed timetable, which will include some early morning and evening work, with a commitment to the Acute on Call rota; therefore, the post will be for 12 PAs.
You will have the opportunity to attend speciality-specific teaching, as well as a weekly medical unit grand round and a multi-disciplinary radiology meeting and PACES teaching (organised by the College Tutor and the RCP Associate Tutor) in a division that has a well-structured teaching timetable and an excellent undergraduate teaching programme, including OSCES for final MBBS.
You will be part of a friendly, supportive team where Multi-Disciplinary Teamwork is envisaged as a key component of how this Trust operates, involving MDT discussions with other colleagues.
You will be responsible for the continuing care of predominantly renal patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care, undertaking ward duties under the direction of senior colleagues, and providing evidence-based care for patients in a multi-disciplinary setting.
While covering the haemodialysis unit for acute complications with consultant oversight and contributing to routine dialysis outpatient care, you will need to take appropriate action in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest in the country, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 who serve a population of 1.2 million people.
We work together, and in conjunction with MSE Health and Care Partnership, to deliver excellent local and specialist services, improve the health and wellbeing of our patients in a compassionate way, and provide a respectful, vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate, and build careers.
From facilities through to consultant specialists, we want to be the best; to achieve this, we need to recruit not just those who are the finest in their field but also those who have the potential to be.
We offer a good working environment with flexible working opportunities, as well as the opportunity to develop your career with access to appropriate training for your job and the support to succeed and progress.
As part of a team, you will work with the Consultant Physicians and a team of junior doctors to manage ward in-patients, see general medical referrals on other wards, review patients, attend Consultant Ward Rounds, and conduct your own ward rounds.
A comprehensive list of duties can be found on the attached Job Description.
We look forward to receiving your application.
