Exciting opportunities have arisen for RegisteredNurses to work within Critical Care at Pinderfields Hospital (Mid YorkshireHospitals NHS Trust).
The Critical Care unit has twelve Level 3 ICU beds,six Level 2 HDU beds as well as two Level 3 Intensive Care Burns beds.
We are looking for ICU Nurses to join our teamand deliver high quality, compassionate care to all patients in our ICUdepartment. You must be enthusiastic, well-motivated and caring, and able to work withinthe multidisciplinary team in providing high standards of patient care, and themaintenance of a safe working environment.
The successful candidates will have the ability toplan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care. Good interpersonal skillsare essential, along with a willingness to learn; the ability to workeffectively in a team; to be self-motivated and to have a positive attitudetowards change and to be able to adapt to the change quickly.
Critical Care experience is desirable but not essential. Full training and national competencyassessment will be provided.

Main duties of the job
To be a safe and effective practitioner and be ableto provide high quality nursing care to patients and support to relatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead on the delivery of individualise patient care
Ensure assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation is all inline with evidence-based practice
Liaise with all patients, staff and families
Ensure NMC policies and protocols are followed
Ensure all nursing records are accurate, comprehensive and maintained
Promote a safe environment and high standards of care
Be able to correctly use equipment within the unit following trainingreceived and departmental procedures
To work with and support within a multi-disciplinary team to providecontinuing care to a specified group of patients
To maintain own personal development with support.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care using evidence torationalise care for critically ill patients, under the indirect supervision ofa senior nurse
Able to make ongoingevaluation of the effectiveness of interventions in meeting prior agreed goalsand make necessary modifications to the care plan

COMPETENT PRACTICE
The Registered Nurse will combine theory and experience to demonstrate clinical competence in practice.
This will be achieved by:
Receiving initial appropriate training/supernumerary period to be assessed as clinically competent in achieving core critical care step competencies and using all equipment available
Developing further skills to allow the nurse to provide all care for any general intensive/high dependency patients admitted to the individuals area of work. As experience progresses demonstrate ability to competently provide care for critically ill patients presenting with a wide range of conditions and treatment requirements, initiating and promoting excellence in clinical practice.
Evidence provided by completion of step 1, 2 and 3 critical care competencies and relevant critical care post registration courses.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care using evidence to rationalise care for both conscious and unconscious patients, under the indirect supervision of a senior nurse. As the nurse becomes more experience demonstrates specialist knowledge and skills in this process. Able to make ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions in meeting prior agreed goals and make necessary modifications to the care plan.
Direct care to patients will be delivered in accordance with the Trusts policies and NMC Guidelines
Contributing towards the formulation of a plan of care with the patient and their family/carers.
Participating in the assessment of health related needs of patients and their families/careers
Promoting a multi professional approach to maximise the patients health and independence utilising resources appropriately.
Maintaining up to date knowledge of current nursing issues/practices.
