An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join our Endoscopy as a Band 6 Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse.
The post holder will support and assist the Band 7 in the management of the Endoscopy Unit to deliver efficient and productive service.
This post would suit an experienced endoscopy nurse who has worked in the acute setting.
Successful candidates will join our friendly and dynamic team. You will be based at Worcester Royal Hospital where we are providing a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including emergency out of hours service and pre-assessment clinic.

Main duties of the job
Main duties:
1. To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines and frameworks including the Trust 4wards behaviour, providing a holistic effective and efficient Endoscopy service to the local population.
2. To participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy.
3. To assist in the assessment of staffing requirements and reporting problems to the appropriate manager.
4. To provide high quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group within Endoscopy.
5. To deliver compassionate person-centred care and treat patients, service users, their families and their carers with consideration, dignity and respect.
6. To support the endoscopy Pre-Assessment team and emergency out of hours service.
7. To participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator, mentor and role model to student nurses and junior staff.
8. To be responsible for developing and sustaining your own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with NMC requirements and to maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice.

Job responsibilities
1. To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines and frameworks including the 6 Cs as a named nurse / key worker for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for the assessment of care and health education needs.
2. The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
3. To demonstrate experience and skills in Clinical Practice, Facilitation and teaching, and Management.
4. To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
5. To participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator / mentor / preceptor / role model to less experienced staff.
6. To provide supervision, support and education to junior staff, unqualified staff and students.
7. Develop, lead and manage a patient centred nursing service delivered by professional staff ensuring the highest possible standards of care.
8. To deputise for the Departmental Manager in her / his absence.
9. To manage and develop new clinics/ lists and staff working within the area.
10. Contribute significantly towards the strategic and operational development of the Unit.
11. Support the Departmental Manager in the recruitment and selection process of nursing staff.
12. Support the Departmental Manager in the monitoring of sickness absence.
13. To be able to work countywide as required by the Directorate / Service.
