Are you passionate about events and thrive in a fast-paced team environment? The Cheltenham Trust is looking for proactive, reliable individuals with strong organisational skills to join our Events Team as an Events Operations Assistant.
In this role, you'll help set up venues for a variety of events, from live entertainment and conferences to weddings, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely. Experience in event preparation and operations is desirable.
The Cheltenham Trust is an independent charity managing five iconic venues, including the Pittville Pump Room, Cheltenham Town Hall, and The Wilson Art Gallery. We host a diverse range of events year-round, from community gatherings and exhibitions to markets and live shows.

The Role:
·To set venue spaces ready for events and day to day business use.
·Events range from concerts and shows at the Town Hall to weddings, festivals, and meetings at Pittville Pump Room, with set-ups including seating, staging, catering, and AV equipment.
·Assisting in the preparation and operation of events, including the assembly and dismantling of equipment and minor repairs and replacement when required.
·To support the venue technical team with basic technical tasks.
·To check the safety of equipment in areas of responsibility and report any damage or malfunction of equipment immediately after discovery. This will include assistance with routine health and safety checks such as fire alarm checks.
·To ensure that a consistently high level of cleanliness and hygiene is always maintained throughout the facilities.
·To assist in maintaining equipment, back areas, and stores in a clean, safe and tidy manner.
·To support the events team by overseeing recurring events, liaising with regular hirers, and assisting customers.
·To understand and comply with emergency procedures (emergency action plan) for the Trust Venues - and to assist with any such incidents in the appropriate manner.
·To support retail and catering activity as and when appropriate.
·This is a physically demanding role, working across large venue spaces and is not office based.
·You will be required to work 5 days out of 7, including regular weekend work, with occasional evening and out-of-hours events on a rota basis.
The Package:
·40 hours, working 5 days out of 7 per week, with the potential for compressed working hours where suitable. We strive to look after our team, and our rotas are developed with this in mind but due to the nature of the events industry, the role requires that you regularly work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
·22 days annual leave, plus bank holidays. For each year you are employed by The Cheltenham Trust, you will earn 1 additional day’s annual leave each year, capped to a maximum of 5 additional days.
·A salary of £25,400 (pro-rata). We would consider requests for part time contracts depending on applicant requirements.

Requirements:
·GCSEs (5 A-Cs or equivalent, including Maths and English).
·Driving license desirable.
·First Aid trained desirable.
·Fire Safety trained desirable.
·Cherry Picker trained desirable.
·Experience of working in a relevant environment for a minimum of 6 months.
·A basic understanding of lighting and sound equipment would be beneficial but is not essential.
·Ability to work alone as well as part of the wider team.
·Confident and professional approach when dealing with clients and event suppliers.
·Excellent communication skills.
·The ability to effectively prioritise tasks and manage time as per event schedules and client expectations.
·The ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
·Able to work at pace, under pressure and multitask, particularly during seasonal peaks.
·Basic level of IT skills; ability to send and receive emails and print function arrangements.
