Growing commitments within our complex group have identified the need to expand our FP&A team based in Biggin Hill. This role provides a unique opportunity for significant exposure to a dynamic Finance environment in an iconic global sports entertainment business revolving around the world’s most widely watched annual global sporting competition.
This role will work with and support the other members of the Biggin Hill FP&A team in achieving its various responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Preparation of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
2. Internal reporting to various stakeholders.
3. Controlling expenditure and ensuring that it is incurred in line with approved budgets/forecasts.
4. Analysing and investigating variances between actual and forecast/budgeted expenditure.
5. Reviewing and seeking to enhance existing financial processes and procedures.
6. Evaluating and advising on the financial implications of potential projects and investment decisions.
Annual budgeting
1. Contributing to the preparation of the consolidated annual budget and cash flow forecast for the Group.
2. Assisting with writing the Group Budget management report.
3. Reviewing departmental budget submissions, ensuring any discrepancies are resolved by liaising with the preparer.
4. Updating the GL with budget data.
5. Liaising with and supporting staff in preparing budgets.
6. Ensuring a seamless transition to new fiscal years, including updating the Chart of Accounts, maintaining the new year’s codes in the GL and Procurement systems, closing down previous year’s codes and rolling forward the various financial reports.
Quarterly re-forecasting
1. Assisting with production of the Group’s reforecasts based on most current information available.
2. Assisting with writing the Group Reforecast management reports.
3. Reviewing departmental submissions, ensuring any discrepancies are resolved by liaising with the preparer.
4. Updating the GL with forecast data.
Month-end tasks
1. Completing various elements of the month end process, including analysing and investigating variances to forecast and budget, calculating month-end adjustments and reviewing activity for potential mis-postings or mistimed transactions.
Regular management reporting
1. Assisting with the population of reports issued to various managers across M&TC.
2. Meeting with managers to discuss performance.
Ongoing support
1. Working closely with staff across M&TC to ensure that their information and control needs are being met.
Analysis and review
1. Analysing Group and divisional budgets and forecasts against prior year / quarter.
2. Preparation of financial reports and presentation thereof to senior management.
3. Investigating/identifying improvements to financial reports on an ongoing basis.
Ad Hoc
1. Provision of specific financial information to senior management.
2. Ad hoc team project and development work.
Specification
1. Recently CIMA qualified.
2. History of excellent academic achievement.
3. Budget and forecast preparation.
4. Experience of analysing actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts and providing meaningful and insightful related reporting.
5. Good analytical and financial reporting skills and attention to detail.
6. A solid foundation of basic accountancy skills including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
7. Advanced MS Excel skills.
8. Ability to support and build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
9. Hard-working and able to commit to wider team objectives/deliverables which might mean working to tight deadlines.
10. Good oral and written communication skills.
11. The ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders at various levels within the organisation.
12. Able to take direction, work as part of a team or on their own, at times demonstrating initiative where required.
13. Live within a commutable distance of Biggin Hill.
