Grounds Supervisor
Location: Sevenoaks
Salary: £28,000
Type: Full-Time Permanent
Hours: 37 hours (weekend overtime available)
Schedule: 7.30 am to 3.30 pm (Mon to Thurs), 7.30 am to 3.00 pm (Fri) with half an hour daily for lunch
Do you have proven supervisory experience? Our client is seeking a proactive individual to oversee the day-to-day planning, operation, and supervision of their Open Spaces & Cemetery Team.
Essentials:
1. Proven supervisory experience (leading a team of 6/7)
2. Ability to work as a key member of a small team
3. Great communication skills (both telephone and face to face)
4. Horticulture experience and qualification
5. Use of mowers, hedge cutters and chainsaw ticket
Key Responsibilities:
1. Allocation of staff to sites according to workload.
2. Production and monitoring worksheets.
3. Purchasing of general consumables (e.g., whitening, fertiliser, grass seed) as required.
4. Carry out all grounds maintenance and gardening work to schedule and to a high standard.
5. Deal with personal enquiries from members of the public.
6. Ensure the public safety of all persons using the Open Spaces & Cemetery, and manage Health & Safety matters and records.
7. Maintain all appropriate records, both financial and administrative, regarding Open Spaces duties, including operation of any associated computerised record systems.
8. Administer bookings of sports pitches, ensuring all fees are properly charged and that all monies and cheques received are held securely and dealt with expeditiously.
9. Maintain close contact with all contractors working in the Open Spaces areas.
10. Responsible for the security and usage of all consumable items, stores, tools, plant, equipment, buildings, and furnishings in the Open Spaces areas.
11. Seek new methods of improving standards of maintenance and increasing financial viability; research and discuss implementation with Manager.
12. Develop the skills and experience of the staff in the team and make appropriate recommendations for further training.
13. Monitor and control usage of sports facilities outside normal working hours and arrange staff cover.
14. Lead with out-of-hours cover for sporting facilities and assist in providing cover for outdoor special events.
15. Provide holiday and sickness cover for Open Spaces and Cemetery Manager.
16. Be available to assist at events on a rota basis.
