Protocol Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a primary school student in Colchester. This role is perfect for an individual with a passion for supporting young learners and making a real difference in their educational journey. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and skilled at building positive relationships with children to help them thrive in their learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored, one-on-one support to a primary school student with specific learning needs (e.g., SEN, autism, or physical disabilities).
* Assist the student with daily school tasks, including lessons, reading, writing, and other classroom activities.
* Support the student in developing their social and emotional skills by fostering independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
* Work closely with the class teacher to ensure a cohesive approach to the student’s education and development.
* Adapt teaching materials and strategies to suit the student’s individual learning style and needs.
* Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents when required.
* Help with classroom management and ensure a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
* Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience working with children, particularly in a primary school setting, is preferred.
* A relevant qualification in Education, Childcare, or SEN (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable.
* Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is an advantage.
* Knowledge of child development and understanding of various learning difficulties.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with children.
* A proactive approach to supporting students in both academic and personal development.
