Job Title: Social Care Work Person - Children's Residential Home
Location: Virginia Water/Leatherhead, Surrey
Reports To: Residential Home Manager
Salary: Negotiable
Working Hours: Full-time/Part-time, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.

Job Purpose:
To provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and young people within a residential care setting. Promote their emotional, physical, and social development while ensuring their well-being and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Care and Support:
Develop and maintain positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Support their emotional, social, and educational needs.
Assist with daily living tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and activities.
Encourage independence and life skills development.
2. Safeguarding and Well-being:
Ensure the safety and welfare of all residents, maintaining a safe environment.
Follow safeguarding procedures, reporting any concerns in line with policy.
3. Behaviour Management:
Implement positive behaviour support strategies.
Manage challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner.
4. Planning and Documentation:
Participate in care planning, reviews, and assessments.
Maintain accurate records and reports as required by policies and regulations.
5. Team Collaboration:
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the needs of young people.
Attend team meetings and contribute to staff development and training.
6. Compliance and Professionalism:
Adhere to regulatory standards, including Ofsted guidelines and organisational policies.
Maintain confidentiality and act with professionalism at all times.
Person Specification:
Essential:
1. Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a residential setting.
2. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to manage challenging behaviours and remain calm under pressure.
5. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
6. Valid driver's licence.
7. Right to work.
Desirable:
1. NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (or willingness to work towards it).
2. Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (e.g., Children's Homes Regulations).
3. A reasonable level of physical fitness.
