Due to the upcoming recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton.
HMP Brixton will be a Category B male prison from April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients' needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.
Hours: Monday to Friday
Salary: This position is full time, and you’ll receive an annual salary up to £53,000 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
As a Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Be an integral part of the healthcare team at HMP Brixton by bringing your clinical skills and passion for care.
* Be involved in anything from developing and leading clinics, undertaking examinations and tests as well as answering emergency bells and potentially being the first person to attend an emergency.
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
* Have some involvement in the inpatient unit.

Qualifications required
* Registered Adult Nurse with current registration with NMC.
* Demonstrate a passion for working in sexual health services.
* Evidence of post-registration CPD.
* Able to work autonomously as a registered professional by ongoing assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care following best practice guidance.
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
