Nestled in a captivating location, YHA Beer is a Grade II Listed Arts & Crafts House offering private rooms, pitch-up camping and luxury bell tent accommodation to families, individuals and groups. Just a ten-minute walk from the picturesque Beer Beach and South West Coast Path, many of our guests stay with us to explore the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. We have a bar, provide breakfast daily; and also offer evening meals to our group customers. We are looking for someone based in the local area to help us with housekeeping through the summer and autumn months.

The Role: Elevating the Guest Experience
As a Housekeeping Team Member, your role is central to ensuring every guest enjoys an exceptional stay. Your dedication to cleanliness and efficiency plays a pivotal role in creating a welcoming environment for all guests.
Your Responsibilities
* Cleaning and preparing bedrooms between guest departures and arrivals, ensuring a fresh and inviting space for our visitors.
* Maintaining the cleanliness of all shower and toilet areas to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.
* Keeping the hostel reception and social areas clean and tidy, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
* Efficiently and effectively undertaking housekeeping tasks, maintaining consistent cleanliness standards throughout the hostel. Taking a proactive approach to review and maintain these standards.
* Complying with YHA requirements for the use and storage of cleaning products, contributing to our commitment to sustainability.
* Reporting any faults or damage to a member of the hostel management team, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
* Sorting and distributing used and unused linen, playing a key role in our guests' comfort.
* Checking in contractors and receiving deliveries (training provided).
* While this is primarily a housekeeping role you must still be comfortable using a computer to perform your duties.
We would like a housekeeper to work 12 - 24 hours per week, with a minimum of 3 shifts per week, 09:30 - 13:00 or 09:30 - 15:00. Start/finish times negotiable to fit in with childcare arrangements/other employments. Ideally you will have availability on Sundays and at least 2 other days, though weekday-only possible for the right candidate. Option to set regular days of work.
What Skills and Experience We Value
It's an advantage but not essential for our housekeeping team members to have prior experience in customer-facing roles. Desirable experience in housekeeping, hospitality or customer service is beneficial. We appreciate the value of lived experiences just as much as skills and knowledge.
Good communication skills are a plus, and excellent time management is essential. Knowledge and understanding of YHA's core purpose and experience working in a team are beneficial. You should be reliable and committed as we operate as a small team and your contribution is vital.
It's important to note that the role is physically demanding and you will need to bring stamina, pace, focus and attention to detail to perform your duties within agreed timescales and to YHA standards.
