Arup’s purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
The Opportunity
Our landscape planning and strategy experts use our specialist research and analysis skills to inform and influence designs which respond positively to place and connect people with nature. This robust assessment work supports all project stages and scales, from pre-application consultation for site-specific appraisals to local plan evidence base studies and strategies. We help secure consent for a range of technically challenging projects, including major infrastructure schemes. This requires intensive stakeholder engagement and close collaboration with planning, environmental, and design disciplines.
We are seeking an individual to join our team in either Bristol or Cardiff to manage the delivery of a range of landscape planning and strategic design project commissions for internal and external clients. You will have a background in delivering project work on time and within budget and be comfortable representing the landscape discipline internally within a project team and externally to a range of stakeholders and clients. It is expected that you will have a good grounding in most aspects of the landscape profession and be capable of promoting the practice, looking for cross-selling opportunities, and contributing to building the team’s network of contacts. The successful candidate will play a role in business development, client relationship building, and bid preparation. You will have sufficient experience to comfortably work in a multidisciplinary environment and take a lead on allocated project work.
Is this role right for you?
As a senior member of the team, you will be the primary contact for projects and developing this area of the business, in coordination with the Associate Director in landscape planning and the local team lead. You will work within budgets, manage resources, and workload on projects across numerous sectors. You will also support and guide junior team members, working with Arup staff across different disciplines throughout the UK to deliver high-quality outputs for our clients. You will be confident in presenting and resolving complex assessment issues and be able to demonstrate graphic skills and knowledge of key software programmes/graphic packages used to create accurate visualisations. There will be opportunities to travel across the UK, particularly in the South West and Wales to sites via public transport and by hire car requiring a driving license.
Requirements:
* A background in authoring LVIAs as appraisals and ES chapters.
* Preparing and managing the production of graphics and visualisations.
* A background in business development, including preparing fee proposals and methodologies.
* A chartered member of the Landscape Institute.
