Hays is working in partnership with a leading engineering consultancy based in Northern Ireland. They would like to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to be part of a team working on exciting new projects throughout the UK and Ireland.
The position for a Senior Structural Engineer within this company has been earmarked as a stepping stone for the successful candidate to eventually take on further responsibility and develop into an Associate Director role.
This consultancy prides itself in handling a wide variety of projects and is currently working on numerous major developments in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The well-established board of directors takes a hands-on approach with the projects and has developed an inclusive, friendly working environment, providing quality and personal service to their clients.
Your New Role
The Senior Structural Engineer will work with a group of enthusiastic engineers on challenging and high-profile projects. You will rely on your technical expertise and experience to make a stable contribution to the team.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Senior Structural Engineer:
1. Structural analysis and design.
2. Structural assessment of existing structures.
3. Managing and running structural design projects.
4. Monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules.
5. Site visits, conducting desktop investigations, attending site meetings, and checking progress and quality of work on site.
6. Liaising with contractors, clients, and architects.
7. Representing the company at design team and contractor/client meetings and business development events.
8. Communicating clearly with team members, managers, contractors, architects, and clients.
9. Providing technical direction and mentoring to graduate engineers.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you must have proven experience working in multi-disciplinary infrastructure project delivery. You should be a Chartered Engineer or nearly Chartered, a member of the Institution of Structural Engineers or an appropriate Professional Body. Ideally, you will have a master’s degree in civil or structural engineering with design experience in structural engineering and building design according to British and European standards.
You must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills, along with excellent technical writing and presentation skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects is essential.
