The role reports to the UK Sales Director and the successful appointee’s role will be a senior sales leader within the Metsa Wood UK business. The successful candidate will be responsible for all of Metsa Groups sawn timber sales into the British market; leveraging Metsä Wood’s long standing in the market and reputation for high quality, service and operational excellence. This appointment is an opportunity to strengthen the sales leadership team, and therefore the individual will need to contribute to both the overall sales strategy and culture whilst also leading the development and execution of the channel sales performance. Main Responsibilities Growth of Metsa Wood’s Sawn Timber sales revenue and sales margins within the existing routes to market for the territory they are responsible for by careful selection of customers and industries with which to supply. Finding value within our service offering and specifications in order to create value based selling opportunities. The successful candidate will have a single direct report which they will need to demonstrate leadership and development skills and will also need to support the wider UK businesses commercial strategy and goals. Collaborating with the National Account Managers, Area Sales Managers and internal sales team to promote the sales of sawn timber to our existing upgrading customers through product knowledge training, price list optimisation and reacting quickly to market movements. Establishes a wide internal and external network to enable, accelerate and embed best practice and support for Metsä ’s growth ambitions and strategies. Drive up Metsä channel intel and customer agenda which builds strong and sustainable relationships with key trade partners that in turn accelerate customer engagement and grows the number of long term sustainable relationships. The Sawn Timber head of sales will also develop productive, collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with the Metsa Fibre business unit in order to support their volume, specification and value requirements.
