PLEASE NOTE: To view the full Job Description and Person Specification, please click the supporting document on the right-hand side Clinical Imaging Department The Clinical Imaging department at RCHT registration with QSI renewed in 2023. We are in the process of moving from the UKAS accredited QSI scheme to the RCR / SCoR QSI quality mark scheme. The department was rated as Outstanding by the CQC in 2018. ll major diagnostic imaging modalities are provided at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. The department uses Insignia PACS and Wellbeing CRIS RIS. PACS workstations are installed in dedicated reporting areas with image viewing also available via any networked Trust PC using WebPACS technology. The department uses Dragon voice recognition software in dedicated ergonomically designed reporting rooms. Workstations are also available for home reporting. Screening and IR: The main department has a general fluoroscopy room with a digital C-arm remote screening unit for non-vascular intervention and general fluoroscopy. Interventional Radiology is provided in a dedicated theatre suite with dedicated recovery. There is a Hybrid operating theatre for Vascular intervention and co-located floor mounted screening room for non-vascular interventions. A Siemens Artis Pheno has recently been installed in the vascular interventional suite. Coronary angiography is performed in a separate facility of two laboratories. MRI Provision: There are 4 Phillips 1.5 T MRI scanners on the RCHT site (2 x Ambition X, one Ingenia and one Intera D-Stream). At the Bodmin CDC there is a Philips Ambition F scanner. There is a mobile MRI service at Redruth. CT provision: In the main scanning suite there are both a Canon 128 slice scanner and a GE Revolution with dual headed pump injectors. A Canon Aquilion 1 Genesis multislice CT was installed in 2019 in the Emergency Department and there is a GE Evo at West Cornwall Hospital. A fifth GE Evo CT scanner was commissioned in the Bodmin CDC in autumn 2022. Ultrasound provision: - Ultrasound machines are leased within the Trust as part of a managed service contract with Canon. The main scanning suite has 4 advanced Canon Aplio ultrasound machines. There are also further Aplio machines in the IR suite and at Bodmin, Camborne, St. Austell and West Cornwall Hospitals. The ultrasound contract is currently being renewed. The Trauma and General Trelawny X-Ray Department has three digital radiography (DR) general x-ray rooms adjacent to the Emergency Department. Nuclear Medicine, located in a dedicated department, equipped with two hybrid CT systems (including a new 64 slice GE Discovery unit commissioned in 2018) and a third GE dual head gamma camera. A full range of nuclear medicine investigations is performed, and the department has a particular interest in hybrid imaging. Radio-isotope therapy is available locally. The Trust hosts a PET-CT service delivered in partnership with Alliance Medical Ltd. Symptomatic mammography is provided in the Mermaid Centre. This also acts as the Assessment Centre for the Cornwalls Breast Screening Programme. West Cornwall Hospital is located 27 miles to the west, in Penzance. There are 75 beds on this site along with day case, rehabilitation, pharmacy and radiology services and a satellite dialysis unit. Outpatient clinics for a large range of specialties also take place at this site. The x-ray department has two general rooms, an ultrasound room and CT (mentioned above). The Community Diagnostic Centre in Bodmin provides plain film radiography, ultrasound, CT and MRI (Bodmin, mentioned above) and MRI (Redruth, mentioned above). There are also imaging departments carrying out general x-ray and/or ultrasound work in a number of community hospitals around the County. There are at Bodmin, Bude, Camborne/Redruth, Falmouth, Helston (US only), Newquay, St Austell and St Marys on the Isles of Scilly. The Clinical Imaging directorate is responsible for staffing these departments.
