Applications are welcome for the above permanent, part time (30 hours per week) post based in Duncan Street Dental Centre.
We are looking for a dentist with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience to join our special care dental team. Applicants should have full GDC registration and be eligible for an NHS list number.
This post will be based within both an acute hospital setting in NHS Lothian and a Community clinic setting, with the anticipated split being 50:50. There may be a requirement to work in any of our clinical settings dependent on service pressures.
This post will require experience in planning and delivery of dental care for medically complex patients (both out-patients and in-patients), close working with medical and surgical colleagues and other members of multidisciplinary teams, and ideally previous experience of delivering this care within an acute hospital setting. Specific experience of treating patients with cardiac, haematology and oncology conditions would be beneficial. A rotational commitment to the general anaesthetic list is likely. In the community setting, care will be delivered to a diverse group of patients fulfilling special care service acceptance criteria.
This post will comprise of delivery of care in a variety of settings including community dental clinic, hospital dental clinics, hospital wards (including ICU/HDU) and theatres. The ability to work independently will be required. There will also be a requirement to take part in the PDS senior dentist out of hours rota.
We are looking for self-motivated individuals with excellent communication, patient management and clinical skills who can demonstrate team working, flexibility and adaptability.
