Job Title: MI Developer
Location: Haywards Heath / Manchester (Hybrid working)
Markerstudy is a leading provider of private insurance in the UK, insuring around 5% of the private cars on the UK roads, % of commercial vehicles and over % of motorcycles in total premium levels of circa £1.2b. The majority of business is written as the insurance pricing provider behind household names such as Co-op, Sainsbury’s, O2, Halifax, AA, Saga and Lloyds Bank to list a few and Markerstudy also has a large and growing direct presence in the market as well.
Role Purpose:
Working with the Head of MI Development to deliver high quality data management across Markerstudy. You will be responsible for providing meaningful management information data into the business to support improved Financial and operational performance, to manage and maintain technical solutions and BAU support.
To act as mentor to more junior team members, utilising their advanced system knowledge bring on the wider team and to adhere to FSA, TCF, GDPR Regulations, and the completion of Mandatory E-Learning.
Responsibilities
1. To support the Head of MI Development with building, maintaining and improving the MISL data warehouse.
2. To model and transform data from new data sources in order to support the ever-growing Markerstudy brand. To use data modelling techniques to normalise and integrate multiple data sources to drive business value and benefit.
3. To Proactively take ideas, concepts and relationships forwards to support department data initiatives which help to inform the overall strategic direction of the business
4. To support the department with ongoing migration to SAS Viya and look to utilise new technology to drive efficient ETL processes.
5. To constantly review the way data is processed in the business, looking for ways to improve running times and efficiency
6. To be an advocate of data governance activities, policies and procedures
7. To help drive continuous improvements in data quality standards
8. To assist with the resolution of known data issues, ensuring root causes are identified and sustainable solutions are developed and implemented.
9. To assist with data risk prioritisation and reporting
10. To help ensure that day to day data processing completes, to agreed timelines with no failures.
Essential Skills
11. Previous experience in a DW or BI role
12. Essential Experience of coding in SAS and SAS Macro’s
13. Essential Experience of SAS DI Studio & Enterprise Guide
14. Experience with data modelling techniques
15. Experience with ETL concepts and data warehousing techniques
16. Experience of data quality management concepts
17. Advanced Excel
18. Proactive problem-solving skills
19. Detailed data analysis and presentation skills
20. Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical detail into simple language that non-technical people can understand
21. Able to operate in a fast-changing market and environment, often tackling issues without clear precedents
