About this role
As a Legal Counsel, you’ll become part of the group Legal Commercial - Partners and Consumers team. We are looking for a driven person with a primary focus on handling consumer and marketing law matters across multiple markets. This can include advising on how we design our apps and platforms, how we run our marketing campaigns to promote our partners and their products, and how we ensure the best (and compliant) UX for our customers. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on consumer and platform regulatory matters and engage with regulators around the world. This is all critical to our continued growth as a business, and is key to our ability to offer customers a wide range of choice in all markets.
These are some of the key ingredients for the role:
* Collaborate with global Product & Tech teams to ensure new features comply with consumer regulations.
* Advise global and local Marketing teams on campaigns and product promotions, ensuring compliance.
* Support Customer Services teams in policy/process setting and provide advice on queries and projects.
* Handle enquiries from regulators, consumer bodies and advertising standards authorities, as well as consumer complaints and litigation.
* Draft and review consumer T&Cs, FAQs, help pages, and marketing promotional T&Cs.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal information in a clear and concise manner.
* A proactive approach to educating the business on legal matters using self-serve tools and resources.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
* You’ll be part of a fantastic team with support, training and supervision from our other Consumer and Marketing law experts, but will also need to be comfortable working more independently.
* You will be part of a great team of legal experts across multiple markets.
What will you bring to the table?
* Legal professional qualified in the UK, the Netherlands, or another common law jurisdiction, with proven relevant legal work experience (in private practice and/or in-house).
* Strongly desirable to have experience in practising consumer law and marketing law.
* Experience working in-house in the grocery, retail, mobility or travel sectors, or other consumer-facing industry would be a benefit.
* A quick learner with a "can do" attitude and a strong academic record.
* Excellent English written and oral communication skills and drafting skills. Additional languages such as German, Italian, Spanish, Polish or other European languages are a bonus.
